There is significance in everything---great and small, beautiful and tragic, mundane and supernatural. The significance can either waver, fade or grow--sometimes it may do all Three.
Today is significant for me. For him. For us. It was and will remain one of the greatest days we ever experienced.
It is said that the number three itself has significance. It is distinguished as a holy number: the first three days of creation (morning/night, heaven/earth and then vegetation). Once those three days were created, life could flourish and became a greater unit.
Time is divided into three parts: Past, Present and Future. We cannot run from our past, ignore it or erase it. The present is where we are right now; living, breathing and hopefully creating something more for ourselves and those we love. And lastly, the future--the one we try to plan or foresee or fret the most about.
Many say that people will do things three times as it provides them a sense of completeness. If something is done three times than it is permanent. We repeat a phrase three times. We check the locks three times.
Lastly, I found that the number three is said to be the number of truth and harmony. A harmony that includes synthesizing all things.
So today, we celebrate three. Three years together. And now more than ever do I feel, see and communicate that harmony and truth. We have combined our past, present and future to honestly know who we are as individuals and as a couple. In the past three years, we have become a greater force, team and unit. Our family has become three with our little man, James. This life changing event has tested our marriage more than ever, which at the end of the day (even on the not-so-fun days) has provided Jamie and I more gratitude and patience with each other and our lives.
Finally, phrases that are often times thrown around but have taken on a deeper meaning are: I LOVE YOU, THANK YOU JAMIE, YOU ARE OKAY, BELIEVE IN YOURSELF --have been staples in our household.
Here is to three years with you, my love.
Love,
Beth
